subframe connectors

I have an 85 with a 350 in it now. How do youknow if you need to have the subframe connectors. I do not have it in a driveable condition, but would prefer to not have any more suprises.

Thanks for all the help.

rule of thumb around here is SFC's is the first thing you should do to any f-body.

Many wonder why GM would relase the car w/o them.

I have yet to put mine on

I just installed the Chris Alston SFC's from TDS and it made a huge difference in handling and how solid it feels. Most of the rattles/squeaks went away. It also helped with traction and the rear end doesnt push sideways under a full throttle shift anymore, now I feel the force pushing forward when it changes gears vice feeling the rear end kick out to the side. Trust these guys when they say to add SFC's, numerous benefits!

I had no SFC's on my 91 GTA for the first 3years i owned it. It has the L98 motor in it which is a real torque monster (327.6 rwtq) stock. BIG MISTAKE. I have cracks in my paint where the sail panels are in each corner on both sides of the car. Granted they are small....about 1/4 of an inch but they wouldn't be there if I had gotten SFC. I've heard the T-top cars are even worse about it.....mines a hard top.

Most any unibody car with any kind of torquey engine NEEDS SFC. I once saw a Fox body Mustang, literally, rip the floor pan behind the drivers seat after a really hard, nitous launch. It looked pretty cool, but I wouldn't wanna drive it home!!

The fox cars just do that anyway. I had a capri that did it with the stock 4 cylinders.

did you guys weld them in yourself? I would prefer to have a shop do it since I dont have a hoist and I'm not a professional welder.

Where would you go and how much would it cost to have them do it??

The SFC's are made by Alston Racing aka Alston Race Cars in IL not Chris Alston's Chassisworks in CA.
