sfcs: spohn weld-ins vs. hotchkiss bolt-ins
bought my car with a set of hotchkiss bolt-in subframe connectors. just went with a dual-cat exhaust. had to change sfcs, as the cats interfered with the hotchkiss sfc on the passenger side.
bought a set of spohn weld-ins. installed them as shown in the instructions.
can't believe how much more body flex there is now. MUCH more squeaking and rattling in the dash and the t-tops squeak now, too. they never did before.
the hotchkiss connectors had a huge contact area at the front of the car, while the spohns don't. i think that's where the problem lies. unfortunately, that huge contact area at the front was what caused my interference problem with the cats. if i still had a single cat, i'd absolutely just weld in the hotchkiss bolt-ins and do some gussetting along their length.
since i can't do that, i think i'm going to take the car to a frame shop and have the sfcs welded along their full length both at the floorboard AND at the body lip and see if they can do something about the contact area at the front.
does anyone have any experience with this problem?

They work immensely better if they are welded along their full length. Night and day difference on mine. also weld the y braces where they contact the floorpan.
