Slotted rotors + Hawks pads, good?

Hey guys,

Myrotors need to go soon, was thinking of a set of Power slot rotors and Hawk HPS brake pads for the REAR.

Anyone using this combo and know its effectiveness? I'm looking for O noise and low dust. Thanks!

I'm using the Hawk HP+ on the fronts right now with plain rotors. I haven't pushed them too hard but I like them. They are a little noisey, but that can just be my crappy calipers. I've heard good things about the HPS also, I know a few in the autocrossing crowd who love the Hawk pads. I would like to know what you are running on the front, these may be too much brake for the rear.

Personally I think the powerslot (or any other 'fancy' rotor) is not needed when non-organic pads are being used.

I haven't upgraded the front brakes yet, because they still have some wear to go on the stock style rotors and raybestos pads. Too much dust from the pads, would like to swap those out too for some Hawks. How is the dust up front after the pads?

So I should pass on any sort of slotted rotors for the fronts or rears and just get standard ones?

I haven't used the raybestos pads so I can't compare them to the HPS, that I also haven't used. I can say that the Hawk will be a better stopping pad, but I'm not sure about the dust from the street version.

I always say standard rotors all the way around, but only for non-organic pads. It is much cheaper to get metallic pads of any variety than to get slotter/drilled rotors.

This guy sells powerslot rotors, but thats only because their casting/machining process is a higher quality. He responds quickly to e mail and has great prices.

Thanks for the link. I was just afraid if i put a better type of pad that my rotors might wear out quicker.

I'd really rather have ceramic pads all around and reg. rotors all around. But not sure who or where to get ceramics. I saw a set of Bosch ones on Ebay, but only for the 1LE option.

I have the Hawk HPS pads. Not much dust or noise. I'll be stepping up to the HP+ pads after I install my rear discs with HPS pads. You generally want a less aggressive pad on the rear. If you want HPS on rear, try HP+ on the fronts. And plain rotors are fine.
