i was just wondering if 17x9.5'' rims will fit under our cars without having any problems with tires rubbing?

They will fit without any problems pending you get the right backspacing. I run 17x9 with 275/40 tires and have zero rubbing. That is with a 2" drop as well.

Firehawk rims have the correct offset but on most cars they need a 5/16 spacer on the front. Depending on the car you might get slight rubbing but i havn't had any problems with mine.

Yes they do! 5.5" backspacing is all you need for 17x9.5! I have them....

Only thing Ive noticed with a lowered car is my 17x 9.5 ZR1 rims with new tires and correct spacers aJUST slightly RUB....they Took and burnt up 2 of my plastic clips in the front backside of my wheel well....NO BIGGIE though.. Had my car not been lowered and the tires not been brand new I dont think it would have been a problem...FWIW the plastic fender HAS not a mark on it...Thats how close it was...it just rubbed the clip and broke it but cant?has never that Ive seen rubbed the plastic fender...

My car has about a 1.5" drop up front..

With a little bit of work...and a lot of $$$ ..... 17x11's will work. That's what's on my car in the picture. BTW, not my wheels...borrowed from a Hunter Motorsports Team member. Thanks again Adrian

Karlmeister runs 18" x 12's ( with Goodyear Road Race Slicks ) on his car for competition events.

chickenman, obviously rolling the fenderlip would be a min. but what else did it take to fit an 11" wheel up front?

Had to clear this with Karl Hunter first...he did all of the developement for fitting these packages and spent a lot of time and effort.

Our competitors in this Region do read this board...and understandebly we do not want to post all of our speed secrets on an open forum. What I can tell you is that while the work involved is not that extensive...the dimensions involved are critical. The front dimensions are absolutely critical.

What I can tell you is that the wheels are Custom made by Complete Custom Wheel. Here is the Web Link:

http://www.ccwheel.com/index.html

Edit: We are extremely pleased with all of the products that John of CCW makes. Extremely good quality, strong, light and at a resonable price. Everything delivered on time as well. Several competitors in this Region have had wheels built by CCW. All have been extremely impressed with the product and the customer service provided by Complete Custom Wheel. Not a sponsorship plug...we pay for them like everyone else...just the honest truth.

After talking to Karl Hunter, he has agreed to provide fitment imformation on an individual request....with the understanding that this information will not be revealed on an open forum. Quite reasonable IMHO.

PM him or e-mail Karl at huntermotorsports@hotmail.com.

My wheels are 18X11" - not 12 sorry to disapoint

The tires I run are 25.5X11.5-18 Goodyear radials. Same ones you would find on the front of a C5R Corvette at LeMans

The tire is actually made to fit on a 12.5" wide wheel - but they work alright on 11"s

I have not found a way to fit 12"s under the car....... yet

Dimensions are critical - as are alignment specs. Chances are if you don't run a whole lot of negative camber you won't get that big of a wheel under the front fender.

17X9.5" or 17X10" is no problem front or rear with a 275/40-17 tire. They fit with no mods - but again dimensions are critical.

18x11's? ...ooops my bad. Well obviously you're going to have to do a little more research and spent some more cash to fit some 18x12's under there. Can't be disappointing the troops now can we buddy

So 9.5 or 10 is too narrow huh? What are you nuts! Damn thats alot of rubber! Well for road racing I can see it but street tires for everyday driving is overkill! Wider is better I guess.

Wider is better? One of our Bud's nickname is: Bigger is Better. He drives a 1981 Transam in ESP...3900lbs, 462CI, 315\35x17's

Edit: P.S. Yes we ( Karl, Dewey and I ) are talkng about racing sizes. For street use, anything over a 275\45x17 becomes too much of a PITA... IMHO. Darting\hunting over road irregularites and particularily hydroplaning in wet climates. Yes.... it does rain occassionally in the Pacific Northwest

For street use both Karl and I run stock sizes. We spend all of our money on race rubber....nothing left over for fancy street stuff

I hear ya, I need a small loan every time I need a set of tires! Im happy with 17x9.5's, one of the best things I did in my opinion. Wide *** tires are so good loking on a car no matter what it is IMO.

thanks alot guys.

yes, 11" front or rear on the streets would be scary, heck sometimes on 225/60-r15's driving in the rain here can be and adventure.
