90-92 Ten-Bolt PBR to Pre-89 Ten-bolt With Discs
Anyone completed this swap (I'm talking about swapping only the brakes, not the entire rear end)? If so, did the newer car have shims in place? Any problems or shortcuts?

I dont understand.
I was curious as to why you were looking to do this. It seems most people on this boards try to do exactly the opposite of what youre trying to do. From what Ive understood, the Delco Moraine brakes on the pre-89 rears were junk and hardly worked properly without a rebuild, plus you'd be downsizing your rotors. Feel free to explain your reasoning. Thanks, Efrain.

I want to retro fit the PBR's with 12-inch rotors to an 85 IROC with the D/M brakes without swapping rear ends.

Here's a GREAT how-to from GMHTP on how they switched to the PBR disc brakes from Baer on their project car's older style disc rearend. All PBRs will be about the same so here's what you'd have to do:

Great link!
My question to you now would be this, If I have an 86 or so 10bolt with drums and a 91 10bolt with PBR, all I have to do Is swap parts from the mounting plate out?
thankx

And the e-brake cables and the hard lines (unless you mod your own), but essentially , yes. There would be a bit of modding of the drum axle flanges but it's not that bad.

Ominous, the drum flange mod is covered in the LS1 brake upgrade tech article section on the homepage. Here's the link with great pics of hos to chop the drum flange:

he already has a disc brake rear. not a drum rear. so cutting and re-drilling should not be necessary.
he's going from the sucky rear 10.5 discs to the PBR type. not drum to PBR.
