track bar brace? Panhard rod? Explain

I noticed in my Pontiac manual they call these two suspension pieces the track bar and track bar brace. I finally realized that a panhard rod is the replacement for the track bar. So I have three questions.

Why is a panhard rod not called track brace like GM originally did?

Is there a replacement piece for the track bar brace?

What does the adjustable Panhard Rod adjust exactly?

I really dont know. IIRC, it seems the old schoolers call it a track bar, as i think thats what it was originally called. Now, Panhard is the terminology more frequently used.

Are you talking about the part that is attached to the axle or the one that attaches to the car itself. i have seen a few modify these for lowered suspension cars where you can adjust the height of where the panhard mounts. JERRYWHO just did it here... https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=213390

What does the adjustable Panhard Rod adjust exactly?
These bars are set up to adjust the length of the panhard. Because one side of the bar is attached to the car and the other on the rear end, it adjust the position of the rear, specifically how its centered. You can move the rear further to the left or right depending on whether you lengthen or short the bar. check out the second pic in this link... gives u the idea. http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/447592

The track bar brace is the piece above the track bar that attaches to the cars frame. Made out of the same stamped sheetmetal the track bar is. I have never seen a replacement offered for this has anyone else?

I get what the adjsutment is for now, You see some cars after altering there ride heigth or what have you there rearend is not centered to the body anymore. The adjustable panhard rod would allow for some adjsutment of rear end location.

Track bar at least sounds like something that helps the car track or stay on course better, what the hell does panhard stand for?

Yeah thats the beast. I was just surprised that no one has tried to sell an aftermarket one. Even if its not really necesary, it hasn't stopped companies from making money off the consumer before.
