Need Help On Slicks

I'm looking fo a set of slicks for my car. I have a set of 15x7 stock
aluminum rims off a firebird. The rims on the car now are the 16" mesh ones and I have rear disc brakes. My question is what size tire can I run on the 15x7 rim and do I need a spacer? I was thinking of a 26x10 slick but wanted to know if It will work with the rims I got. Thanks, Jason

I think 10"s would be to wide. Slicks are a little different than regular tires they measure the slicks usually by the actual wideness of the tread then you will have them be a little fatter than that since the sidewalls normally are an inch or two wider than the treads. So the slick might be 11.5" or so wide from sidewall to sidewall that's a pretty big tire cramming on a 7" rim.

You can always check out manufacter's websites they often place up the recommend'd rims with the slicks. Here's MT's http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/strip_et_drag.html

15" rims are nice because since the rim is so small you get more sidewall which lets you wrinkle it more on launches.

My first year racing I had you exact rims running Hoosier Quick Time Pro DOT slicks 26x9.5. A few of myh buddies have 10-12" slicks on factory steel rims, they work but look kinda goofy since the sidewall bulge is really exagerated. You'll just have to play the air pressure game to get the correct footprint. The slicks I'm running now have a section width of 11.9 and are about as snug as I want without getting out the hammer, but these are also on 10" rims.
