no brakes were on the rear when i bought it even the backing plates were removed it, the rear was from my old 88 formula 350 with 58,000 miles so I knew it was a good rear and I got it for a good price.

oh ok....it would probably be easier to go the junk yard and dig up all the disc brake parts that will fit on the rear......then you can take the calipers back for cores and get new ones at the parts store

I was thinking of sticking with the drums so I don't have to change the prop valve/ hoses and have to worry about some of the problems i heard about the 88 and earlier disc brakes I'd like to go with the PBR's but i'm trying to save money since i'm getting my th350 trans put in around the same time. As well as getting new adj rear shocks, lakewood adj panhard bar and traction actions arms, poly bushings, 24mm rear sway bar.

The guy I bought the rear off of modified the 9 bolt plates to fit the 10 bolt rear he put in so I should be able to modify my 10 bolt plates to fit the 9 bolt rear and keep my drums.

Yeah, you should be able to modify the ten bolt plates to work on that rear. I was able to modify the ten bolt disc plates to work on a nine bolt disc rear for a friend of mine by just routering out the holes some where it mounts to the axle flange. It should be about the same operation for the drum setup.
