1986 Z28 suspension

Does anyone have insights on the suspension of this kind of car? I know very little about them, but I have a 1986 Z28, and it to me it seems to ride very rough. By rough, I mean I can feel practically every bump on the road while traveling in the car. Is it made this way for some reason? The old owner replaced the rear shocks because he thought it was riding rough as well. However, he told me the new shocks didn't really make a difference. The suspension is factory and the only rear shocks have been replaced. Any ideas anyone?????

Can you pull the suspension RPO code out of the console box or the trunk storage area? That will list what package you have. Z28s will ride rough anyway, so you'll probably have to live with it or change out the springs. Shocks really don't control how stiff the ride is, that's the job of the springs.

Welcome aboard. Lots of great info here, just keep your sense of humor.

I have a 92 Z and my **** rides pretty rough too. Its just the way they are. WHen Chevrolet desiged these sleds, they weren't too concerned with ride quality I guess. Then again, my car has 150,000 miles and I have the stock springs in it still!! Oh yeah, she sags like a 50 year old lady!! No offense intended, just one of my less than clever analogies!!
