9-Bolt Brake Components to 10-Bolt
Yes, I've done a ton of searching, and either I've missed the answer I'm searching for or I'm a bit thick (my friends would agree to the latter
. Will 9-bolt brake components--rotors, calipers, caliper carriers--bolt up to an 85 J65 ten-bolt, IF the backing plate used is from an 89-92 rear disc car?

They should as long as you are using the correct backing plate. The calipers, rotors, and caliper brackets are the same whether they were on a 9 or 10 bolt, just the backing plate makes the difference. Check with Ed Miller,he may be able to hook you up with a set of dual pattern plates like he sold me. They have the bolt pattern for both 9 and 10 bolts.
I had a friend who wanted to swap his ten bolt pbr calipers onto a nine bolt. The nine bolt was originally a disc rear also, but the guy who sold it to him kept the backing plates. We were able to make the ten bolt plates work on the nine bolt by routering the holes out a little so the bolt holes would line up with the nine bolt's axle flange. Worked out great!

I have the 10-bolt backing plate. I made a deal on the brake components from a 9-bolt PBR rear end, everything from the axel flanges out along with some miscellaneous parts such as hard lines, hardline/flex line brackets, and e-brake cables. A C note did the trick (the rear end had a bent axel tube). I'm a happy boy! Thanks, guys.

I must've been nodding off when I did my last post. I was describing putting the ten bolt plates on a nine bolt. If you already have the 89-92 ten bolt disc backing plates on hand, the rest of the hardware you got from the nine bolt should work out just fine using the ten bolt backing plates.
