Based on physical aspects the BFG T/A ZR's in the max size(for a 16x8" wheel) of 255/50/16 will give you a tread width of 10.4" on an 8" wheel whereas the Dunlop SP Sport 8000's give a tread width of 10" on a 7" wheel(as listed on websites). Convert the Dunlops to a 8" wide wheel and I'm sure the treadwidths are very close to being identical or not signicant in difference. This means they will also carry the same height sidewall and have the same overall diameter so the overall behaviour between the two tires in performance driving will be very much the same.

Both tires also posess direction tread patterns...

The Dunlops suggest a softer tire compound with their signifcantly lower treadlife(200) over the BFG's(360) and conversly in tire reviews the Dunlops seem to lead in dry traction by over 1pt on a 10pt scale.

The actual tread patters on both tires are very similar. The BFG's containing one extra groove in the middle of the tire to promote wet traction.

In the same size and for the same price I'd overlook both and take a look at Firestones Firehawk SZ50 EP tires. With close to the same tread life as the longer living BFG's and significant dry and wet traction over the Dunlops, PLUS a stiffer sidewall you will get much more performance and feel for the road with the Firehawks. If you're into performance driving I'd seriouly consider these tires instead. Otherwise I'd take the Dunlops and then would even look at another tire such as Eagles HP Ultra Plus tire before the BFG T/A ZR's

I was told by the local Firestone dealer that the SZ50 EPs were discontinued. Has anyone heard otherwise? Or, does anyone know about the new replacement? The only way I can buy these seems to be shipping them here (hawaii), which really throws the cost off.

25TH, get the Dunlop 8000's. I had them and they were great, stuck like glue. They did wear fast though, but hooked awsome on a warm day!! The 255's also look real wide for some reason wider tham most, but every brand is gonna be slightly diff. no matter what the size.

I had the Dunlops at one time. They didn't last 20,000 miles. They did stick, though. But wore WAY too fast for what they cost.
