Misc Brake questions

Alright, I have the car in the sig, with stock front brakes, I put on some mid 80's disc brakes on it. I changed the prop valve, the pads and rotors. I also put on some Earl's Braided lines. I got a crappy pedal, and the rears barely work. The fronts work perfectly. I have close to 5k miles on the car, and I can still see the hatches on the rear discs, and the pads barely look used. I bleed and I get good pressure. My employee (mechanic) says the calipers are good. The booster is working fine. I personally think the calipers are bad myself. Suggestions?

Also, I am thinking of putting C4 Vette brakes on the front, and LT1 rears on there. But I am wanting to know if they will fit my centerline convo pros. Does anyone have experience with this?

It might be bad calipers since it's the pre-PBR setup. But I could be wrong. Does the front do a nose dive or do the front brakes lockup when you do a hard stop? That's one indication of rear failing calipers.

My brakes barely have the ***** to do anything. I have it on the lift, run the car to 15, slam on the brakes, and it takes 3-4 seconds for them to stop.

The car has never stopped good. I kinda want to get a larger bore master cylinder, but no one makes a bolt-in one that I have seen.

It almost sounds like you have the wrong proportioning valve. Try giving the rears more volume and see if they stop faster.

I bought it from the dealer, and I checked on it, thats the number it calls for. The master cylinders are supposedly the same too.

I hate to say it dude, but if you went from drums in the rear to pre-89 iron disc calipers, you probably just downgraded in all honesty. You really need to go with 89 and up pbr calipers or maybe do the ls1 changeover. I have the 1le brakes up front and the pbr rears, and I'm still not happy with the stopping power to the rear on mine either. My next step is to put the wilwood adjustable proportioning valve on mine. I've already got the valve, just need to get a hold of my buddy who has a double flaring kit! I'm also going to get the braided stainless lines eventually as well.
