Anyone running 275s on stock 16x8 wheel??

I need to get new tires for my car this year and I want to get something wide for the back to replace the 255s there now. Im going to keep the 255s up front but I want something like 275/40/16 on the back. Anyone running something like this?? Do I have to do anything special to get them to fit properly or can I just put them on and bolt the wheels up??

Thanks...

On a 16x8 inch wheel 255 is about as wide as you can go. BTW, with those 255's up front do you have any rubbing?

I searched the board last night and found a couple people who said you could fit 295s on a 16x8 wheel.

And no I dont have any rubbing in the front with the 255s. I know that chevy high performance magazine did a little handling work on a camaro and they ran 275s front and back. Mind you they used different wheels with different back spacing.

Can anyone else give me anymore information about my question?

What I'm saying is no tire manufacturer makes a 295 wide street tire for a 16x8 wheel. All you gotta do is look and see what they make. There are a few truck tires out there in that size, but those are tall sidewall mud tires, and they will throw off your speedo and effectively give you a worse rear gear. Why do you want to go that wide on a stock rim in the first place, it'll only make handling worse because tires that wide were not designed for wheels that skinny.

the tire manufacturer will have specs available on what size tire can be mounted on which width rim. Although you may be abl eto get a 275 or 295 on an 8 inch rim it likely will not be reccomanded by the manufacturer. Besides if the tire will not work properly on a rim why go with it??

My dad bought 16x8 GTA crosslace wheels from year one. They said 295s would fit the wheel. My dad is using BF Goodrich 295s in the back of his 2nd gen.
