Big Difference Between KYB and Bilstein shocks?

For daily driving purposes, is there a big difference between the KYB shocks and the Bilstein schocks? If the difference is really significant I am willing to buckle down for a few months so that I can get the extra cash. I have done searches and have gotten mixed opinions...

Also, everyone seems to recommend the Eibach Prokit or Sportline springs. Are there any negative reviews on this product?

And here is my final list if anyone wants to suggestest anything different:

TDS Wonderbar

--Edelbrock Strut Tower Brace
--Lakewood Lower Control Arms
--Spohn 4140 Chrome Molly Front/Rear Sway Bars w/ Polly Bushings.
--Spohn Adj. Panhard Bar w/ polly bushings
--Spohn Subframe Connectors
Polyurethane Bushings (all Energy Suspension)

For daily driving both will be better than stock. The Bilsteins are a bit better but you would only see that differnce on a road course. They may ride a bit different but shouldn't be to far off from the KYB's. Why the lackewood LCA's. Why not go spohn with that as well?

"Why the lackewood LCA's." Hadn't thought about it, I just gathered all the parts from many searches on the forum. It would make sense to go Spohn also.

So does anyone else agree or disagree with the above post? If the difference will not be felt in my daily driving, then the money difference becomes a factor.

BTW, after the suspension is done (or atleast the shocks, struts, springs), will the car feel like a "new car" suspension? Just wondering.

nope. BETTER than new. stiffer, too. I like KYB AGX shocks/struts, just beacue they're adjustable as hell. but bilstein is really good stuff too. if you don't care about tuning your suspension a lot, go with the bilsteins. they're cheaper, right?

Bilsteins are much better than KYB, shocks/struts are not the place to try to save money, buy what you can. i have Bilsteins on my audi, and i love them. the are not overly firm, but when you push them, they respond very well.

Where can I get good prices for Bilsteins. I want adjustable, and how do they compare to the KYB AGX? Are either of these rebuildable, because I thought that some of the Koni's are but I have not been able to find Koni's either for my car. It seems that most places only have KYB for our cars.

Plus Bilstien will Rebuild or revalve your shocks for a very reasonable price should you need changes in yur setup...

I bought a set of AutoX springs for my corvette...It had Bilstiens in the car already that were valved for Z51 springs...

At any rate for a very small fee I sent the used ones back and they rebuilt them for the new tighter springs...They looked Like new shocks and made a huge difference...

Ah, Just thought of something. Anyone tried retro fitting the C3 Bilsteins shocks to a thirdgen? Well, probably a dumb idea, but they are only $180~ for a set of 4, you could sell 2 on ebay and keep 2, then maybe a bracket or some welding and...

Just a thought... just a thinkin'

My car previosly cut 1.5 60 foots on the KYB shocks. suspension set up was kyb shocks, hitchkis lca's and panhard bar, custom modified riendforced stock torque arm, eiback drag launch kit. Now it is going to be the same with BMR trak pak torque arm. Hoping for low low low 1.5's and low 10's in the new combo.

i believe the difference between bilstein and kyb is something like night and day. bilsteins are premium performance dampers, kyb's are parts store fodder. now i'm not knocking kyb's they are about as good as you can get for the price, but the bilsteins are ibn the same class as koni or tokico. you will get a better ride and handling from the B's . kyb's will tend to wallow and provide a harsher ride, bilsteins will be firm but better absorb sharp bumps. I like tokico illuminas (500 from shox.com) they are adjustable and maintain good ride quality. I drive my car everyday over very bumpy roads. if you want all out performance and have smoothroads get the koni's.

BTW, i hated my prokit and removed it. you can find my bitching if you do a search.

I just threw some of those eibach springs on my 84 Z28. Which line of bilstein did you go with? And how did they turn out?
