Rear End Last Component I Need...
Rear End Last Component I Need...
With the help of everyone on this board, I have been able to compile a list of everything I need throughout the drivetrain and suspension. The only thing I have left to get is a rear end. I was looking at a brand new Ford 9 from some site and it was like 2000 dollars.
Question:
Can I find a used rear end from some company or junkyard that will bolt onto my 84 Trans Am? Or at the very least, not require too much fabrication so that I don't have to pay anyone to do it.
The gears will be changed to 4.11's and my car will be running 370 horses to the rear wheels with torque to match. What rear end could I buy for as cheap as possible that can handle the power I am going to be making.
If it matters, I will be running a 350TH or 400TH with a 3200 Stall Converter.

for aftermarket new rear ends.
their are moser 9 inch ford or 12 bolts from www.moserengineering.com
other companies like strange make them to i believe.
if u bought a 9 inch ford from a yard it will require lots of work.
from most companies a bolt in 9 inch or 12 bolt is around 2 grand give or take a few hundred.
i am not one to fabricate something as important as a rear end so i need to go out and just buy bolt in things most of the time.
the cloest bolt in rear from a junkyard you could find would be a 9 bolt from a thirdgen but 370 hp is alot going to it. plus that gear ratio u want a 9 bolt wouldnt have it right out from a junkyard.
