Intrax 2" drop - Lookin for advice
1) I'm thinking about installing Intrax springs for a 2" drop all-around on my 89 RS convertible with 16" 1990 IROC wheels. I want to go LOW but when I put a measuring tape up to everything (wheel-well clearance, cat clearance, etc), 2" almost seems TOO low (if there is such a thing)... The roads are pretty decent where I live so that's not a huge concern but I'm worried about tire-rub or bottoming out on a speed bump. Any thoughts?
2) If I do decide to go with the Intrax for the 2" drop, should I get any particular shock/strut combo or will an OEM-type shock/strut combo work with the reduced travel modification? Side note: I am THE all-time penny pincher so the "Best" is not exactly what I'm looking for - I simply lookin to achieve a sweet lookin ride without having to skip eating lunch for 3 weeks.

you realize your car is going to hit harder wit ha drop, correct? you might rum when taking a cornor and hit a bump.
for the shocks/struts combo i suggest bilsteins. you can get the set of 4 for about 400. worth every penny. theres a reason they came on firehawks you know

My guess is that a set of lowering srpings will barely lower your car from where it is at. I say that because for an 89 your stock springs probably have some serious sag to them and a new set will only meet the drop it claims when compiared to new stock springs. Most 3rd gens see about .5" to 1" drop with aftermarket springs because of the high mileage and wear on there stockers. I saw the full drop with my springs but my car only had 29,000 miles or so on it.

Hi,
Has anybody an 82-84 Trans Am with 2" or 1" drop Intrax
springs? If yes, could you please show me a picture about
how the car looks? I just want to see the difference between
my car, the 2" and the 1" drop. I do not want to lower it
extremly.
Thank you very much,
Laszlo
