Torque Arm Mount

Does anyone know what the difference is between and 82 torque arm mount and an 85? I have the Edelbrock adjustable torque arm ordered and their tech said I would need to use a mount from an 85 to mount it to trans in my 82. What exactly do I need to change? Just the bushing or the whole unit? Would it be something I could get from GM? Thanks for any info someone can give me..

The only difference I know of would be the bushing. The erlier ones have the torque arm lips facing towards the driveshaft and the later ones have the lips facing away from the driveshaft. You can buy these bushings lots of places. I got mine through Jegs.

So if I understand you correctly, the metal brackets that hold the bushing in place should be the same? That would be cool if it did, since I wouldn't have to worry about trying to change them out. I just wasn't sure, thanks..

If you had to, removing the brackets are as easy as changing the bushing.

regardless to the thread be sure to check the welds. i just recently ( 2 weeks or so) had my brand new EB torque arm snap on me as i drove the car out of the garage right after install. luckily i wasn't moving but now i have a slight vibration over 100 that i need to go have checked out.

there are a few bad batches out there so just be careful....
