tie rods
I am going to be replacing my tie rods for the first time (for me), any tips or suggestions, i went aheah and bought both the inner and outer, also i read something about a solid center link, since its a possibility i may replace both inner and outer do you suggest replacing that part too? one more thing, i called around and the local shops wanted about 100 beans to replace the outer plus 60 for an alignment, but when i asked about the inner the price jumped 400, is it really that hard? is it possible to assemble the whole thing for easier replacement before I bolt it up to the car if I do a little thread counting and compensating (if I go with the solid) because my main problem is cost effectiveness, if its only the outer I’m going to do then the shop, if it’s the inner and outer than I’m going to try it, due to the fact I’m just starting my tool collection, and I have no press and had to give away the jack stands I had for my mustang (firebirds are fattys)

not too difficult, but time consuming, yes. since you have bothe ends, then do it. I'd recommend getting a pickled fork, though (tie rod separater). you may not NEED a center link, but these cars are old. might as well replace all of them, and maybe even the pitman arm and idler arm too. nothing like having a nice new front steering system to make things feel better. and don't forget to get it aligned afterwards.
