Rear cornering stability

What is needed to keep the rear planted at high speed cornering(besides lowering the car and sticky tires)?

I am sure some of you autoX guys can help.

I know tire pressure has a lot to do with it. I picked up a tip that recommends using a lot less pressure in the rear tires. No more than 30 psi under autocrossing conditions, most likely 26 to 30 psi. I run the fronts somewhere around 40 psi. Also you may want to look into your rear shock settings. I see you have Koni shocks, they should be set pretty soft. I'm running the same sway bars as you and have my Tokico shocks set at the second notch, and I'm going to try the lowest setting at the next event.

Hope this helps some.

Panhard rod, springs, good tires, and shocks will be the things that affect high speed lateral grip.

well panhard(spohn) and shocks(koni) are taken care of. I have springs(hotchkis) ready to install when I do do the front here shortly. The tires are still pretty good, but I want to go with KD's next time.

Lowering tire pressure isn't really an option since its mainly on the street, though I would at track.

I'm not saying you should lower the pressure as if it is a drag slick. What pressure are you using now? If you are running 30 -35 psi then I would take out 5- 10 psi and see how you like it. You shouldn't notice any different tire wear and might get a slightly better ride too.

Remember... when you go autocrossing you raise the tire pressure, and tire pressure is the cheapest and quickest adjustment you can make.
