selecting shocks/struts

Hey guys,

I've been looking at KYB GR-2 shocks/struts and it appears that summitracing is selling them rather cheap:
http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=KYB-343211&N=120%204294925130%204294925129&view=33
$50/each front and $17/each rear.

Are these units decent, or should I not waste my money and get something like bilsteins(sp?), although they are a bit pricier?

Weird thing is that Hawns ThirdGenParts is selling them for $150 fronts and $75 rears, which is almost twice as expensive. Anyone know what gives?

While we are on the subject, I am curious what other sites (which are decent/credible) people use when looking for parts. So far I've been heavily using sponsors of this board, Jegs and summit. Seams like there is more out there, but google returns way too much noise to sift through.

big question: what do you want out of the car? Road race, drag race, or cruiser?

The bilsteins are going to be heads and shoulders abover the KYBs. IMHO shocks/struts are not the place to try to save money. These are on the 'critical' list of things that need to be done right. saving up, and buy a good set now, will pay off in the end (Bilstein is great about replacing parts if something goes wrong with them). And they really are the key to making a car both perform, and ride well.

To answer the big question, I would take the car to the drag stip to do things like tune the carb or have a little fun, but I am not building it for the strip. Otherwise, I want to make this car streetable and also take it road racing at Watkin's Glen.

Sounds like bilsteins is a way to go. I already have a relatively long list and it is not even half of what I will really need, so just wanted to know if KYB's are worth it. Are there any other shocks/struts out there worth looking at?
