Converting to rack and pinion

Im going to go with Pro Fab's tubular K and I've decided to convert to rack and pinion and I was wanting to keep things as clean as possible. I've already got rid of the A/C, smog pump, going to get electric water pump... well you get the idea. My question is how many of you are running a Manuel rack on the street??? Right now this is my daily driver and probably will be for another year so how much or a PITA is it, Is it live able. Def. of livable: I live in Texas with no A/C. I know Im . So Im in a pickle. Manuel or Power??? Any input will be greatly appreciated.

it is just like a manual box on a s10 only bad when you are in a parking lot which is not really bad at all

Is there any disadvantage to going to R&P besides cost and work?
