PA Racing Tubular K member....

alright i am just wondering what is the diff between ordering a PA ki member with spring perches and motor mounts and one without all those? BESIDESTHE OBVIOUS that one has those and the other does not and price.... i mean do i need to order it with perches and mounts? is it better to do so? will it affect anything else?.....

If you want to keep your stock motor mounts and reuse your stock springs order it with mounts and perches. The k member without those require a coil over front suspension and your own way of mounting the engine, probably meant for a front motor plate

I have personnaly caught on to something around these boards that the owner of PA has been inconsistent in HIS own words. I leave it at that and just say I intend to go through Profab- my personal research leads me to believe he is the real talent between the two.

Dean

I have PAs stuff on my car and will have a set of Profabs setup in the next week and will review both side by side.

i waited.

its been a long long time.

to be honest, i dont remember if the one i have is a PA racing one, or a profab one.

im intrested in JERRYWHOs comparison since he knows a hell of alot more then i do about this kind of stuff.... but from my minimal point of view, having installed both, not looking past the powdercoating:
the both fit.
they both work.
spohn has nothing right now.

FireRed91Z28:
if you want to bolt it in place of the stock one, YES you need spring perches and motor mounts. talk on the phone to them and say you want it cheaper. they'll sell it cheaper. if not, call the other phone number and do the same thing. $250 + shipping is fair.

if you plan to convert to coil overs, and have everything for it, you can skip the spring perches. but you can no longer run the stock type spring setup.

if you skip the motor mounts, its just a bar to mount the LCAs on. you would have to fab a way to hold the motor in place... with a motor plate or somthing.

get the motor mounts and stick to the stock configuration with spring perches unless your interested in coilovers or similar setup. the extra room is nice but you'll change many things for it.

I have the PA racing k member and a arms with both stcok perches and motor mounts. It bolted in very well, and the only complaint so far is that it really really really needs to include the mounting bolts, or offer them as an option. You need to get 6 off the stock rear mounting bolts to bolt it onto the chassis. I had great difficulty getting grade 10.9 bolts for this job.

thanks for all the info...i too was waiting for Spohn but its taking too long and i really want to instal my new engine along with the tubular k member all at once. but then again i do have some time still as i am planning a twin turbo set up so i may just wait a little longer.

vsixtoy explained to me a little bit of background on why he feels the way he does and it makes alot of sense. i have not had a problem with my pa racing unit...however i've had it for some time now. i have heard lately of problems with the pa unit, while subtle and easily fixed they seem to be problems none the less. i would definately stress caution when ordering any custom unit wether it be this or some other piece and use your best judgement.

i will say this though that while going with a coilover style conversion will add more adjustment over stock configuration it will take alot more time and money to get your setup right to ones specifications so take that into account and just don't expect it to be an easy process. with all said though the extra room really is nice but i'm not sure i would go through it again unless it were more of a track/show only type car that was driven very little.....or you do alot of work on your motor. in which case the room is essential and really makes a difference with everything you do. although i have had my setup for almost 2 years now it has proven to work well so far and hold up to my expectations.

PROFAB here. I got mine uncoated to check out the weld quality. Looks good. Plus I can powdercoat it myself.

I had a local fabricator look at it and he use to work irl, nascar, etc doing fabrication and he said It looks like a well maid piece.
