torque arm mount
while replacing my transmission i found yhat the last owner welded the torque arm bracket to the trans. i found a bracket in a junkyard after a LOT of searching but the bushing faces the wrong way. my question is can i get a new bushing and drill out the rivets and install it to the same bracket or are the brackets different? local gm dealer has a new bracket with bushing but is expensive and will take 2 weeks.

You should be able to just switch the bushing, I would get a poly one from one of the aftermarket companys like spohn vs. paying a dealer price for a rubber one.

hmm how did they ever get a steel bracket to hold to a alum housing? well mine is some type of white metal maybe not alum but it is not steel. what is your tail section made of?
