The sway bars are worth it. They are about the best you can get for our cars.

They are different but noth worth it. Aftermarket ones are much better and chances are that these ones are worn out.

Did they have Formulas in 85?
If the parts are cheap, grab them. Springs may be worn though.

Carfax shows that VIN to be a 1985 Trans Am with a 5.0 4bbl.

It may vary some in the suspention, depending if it was a WS-6 car or not.

what semiller said, good bet they are bigger.
i found a front off of a formula and put it on yesterday, turns out its a 36 hollow and mine was a 32 solid bar, big diff in weight, and hopefully performance, i've got the poly endlinks for the front and rear did a short test but couldnt tell much

The bar wont be bigger than 36, i dont even think there was an after market bar that big. so get it if its bigger than your current one. If its hollow you have wieght savings right away, only down side is new bushings may be needed.

Yup, the biggest and best sway bars for our cars comes from the ws-6 genre...36/24mm hollow bars, GRAB 'em, you can't go wrong.

My car has the 36 front 24 rear setup with the 550lbs springs. There is no 5.0 mustang that can keep up with me on Mt. Diablo

No the biggest is 24mm but there are a few guys who said they have found 25mm solid bars on some junkyard IROC's. There are no 26mm bars though.

How do the Spohn sway bars compare to the WS6 sway bar package? Would it be worth it to spend the couple of hundred dollars on the spohn front and rear sway bars, or just get the sway bars from a WS6 car?
The Spohn bars are solid I believe so they would be heavier than the 36mm hollow bar.

cost

So you need to figure out if the cost of the sphons sway bars are worth all that extra money. I have an 89 firebird formula with the WS-6 suspension and I wouldn't change to aftermarket sway bars. Hope this helps.

i wanted sphon bars, i got a 36 hollow and went to it from a 32 solid and i love it, it still needs new bushings but it rocks, now for the rear im wanting a fat bar for drag traction, so a 1" sphon bar is for me, hope this helps.

I am really happy with my stock WS6 sway bars. I added some poly end links, and wouldn't bother with shelling out cash for aftermarket ones.
