Help with changing springs!

How difficult is it to change front and rear springs? I would appreciate it if someone could take a little time to kinda outline the "easiest" way to go about it. I know a lot about our cars but everyday I learn something new so I guess I don't know everything....but thats what this board is here for, right?
Thanks guys.

Rears are easy. Jack the car up, high enough that the rear end can hang on its own with a couple of inches of clearance to the ground; support the frame on jack stands, right in front of the LCA bolts; unbolt the shocks, and pull their studs out of their holes (you might have to jack the rear end up an inch or so to take the force off of them); let the rear hang; the springs will fall out. Then, pay attention to the rubber isolator (doughnut about 1" thick at the top of the springs); make sure you get the top coil of the spring "indexed correctly in the isolator; jack the rear end up enough to put the shocks back; let the car down off the jack stands.

Fronts are a little more involved.

Thanks man, just the kind of help I was looking for...very well explained. I knew the fronts would be somewhat harder than the rears.

Don't know about other years, but on my 91 Formula WS6 I didn't have to remove the shocks to chage out the spring. Just jacking the rear body up a little bit took the pressure of the springs so I could swap them out just fine....

my eibachs are close to falling out with the rear end hanging.

the fronts are harder. the way i did it (not saying its the right (safe) way, but it got the job done. support the car on the frame with jack stands, then jack under the control arm to take the load off. unbolt the strut and spindle. i got a chain and wrapped it around the spring a couple times and secured it to holes in the cross member, and let the jack down very slowly, read slowly, and i was good to go with a little tugging. putting them back in really sucked. there wasnt enough room to get a clamshell compressor inbetween the cross member and the control arm, so i got one designed for sla cars (upper & lower control arms, with shocks) and compressed the eibach springs as much as possible (that was scary, the compressor kept slipping on the spring) gotta have the jack under the control arm and kinda do both things at the same time

ebmiller88 has agreat how to on spring and shock changing in his sig. You can literally have the rear shocks and springs changed in less than a few minutes once the car is in the air.
