Greater ground clearance?

Well, my bro has himself a 1989 Formula WS-6, and has been having trouble with scraping over speed bumps, and up north on some of the back roads (not exactly 4x4 material either)...

I was curious if there are any viable options in reguards to increasing ground clearance without affecting handling to adversely? I've seen coil spacers, but those seem like a cheap solution (which are rarely good solutions). Of course, lift spindels for the front would be ideal, but insanely expensive... That seems to leave only taller springs. But where might I find some (short of getting them custom made)? Only looking for an additional 1 to 2 inches (with 2 inches being the absolute most).

i am sure if you bought new factory springs for your car it would rise up the needed 2 inches since those springs are probably sagging from years of use.
