15x8 what BS-read all search topics already

Going to order a set of 15x8 draglites that I can throw some actual radials on for street driving and not chew up 3 sets of slicks next yr. I've read all the posts when I searched and have not got a definative answer on what actual BS to use-really looking for pictures that come along with explaination.

I'm not worried about beating inner wheel well as that's already done. Reason for 15x8 instead of 15x10's like I have, is to give it that "stock type" apperance so the rim lip is not flush with outter wheel lip on the body. Anybody with any smarts on tire sizes and how they work? Too used to ordering slicks with actual measurements to go by and not this metric stuff

Current slick is 29.5" tall x 9" wide-actual section width is 11.4"
I want a tire with maximum width even though they dont have a snowballz chance in helll for traction anywhere, but also want a taller tire to help fill the wheel well area so it dont look like a mud running truck that's ready for the Baja 1000.

I can deal with a tire that's 28" tall, but 29" would be best. So if anybody has actual pictures of any 15x8 rims with whatever BS you claim is best, please post them so I can get a visual, also please list the tire size you have on the rim also so I can see how tire measurements look in real life.

The backspacing depends on the width of the wheel, not the diameter. So you could look at a bunch of other examples of 8" wide wheels (15x8, 16x8, 17x8) and compare what backspacing they used. I would do a search for "*x8 backspace" and see what shows up. When I ordered my 8" wide wheels I went with 4.5" backspacing which is the same as stock. If you want some sort of custom fitment I recommend reading through Andris's article on backspacing and offset and doing your own measurements.

That's the exact search i did and it seemed kinda inconclusive. For everyone person saying 4.5BS there was another saying 5.5BS. Xpndbl3 sent me a link to his car domain site with his 15x8 with 4.5BS and that looks to be exactly what i was looking for.

Now I just need to figure out a tire size. I want to have a taller sidewall so it flows with the front tires I have since they are a 75 sidewall. The 275's rear seem to be the thing if I can figure out what sidewall heigth to go with them.

I'm not looking for anything custom, just want something I can throw on since I'm taking a yr off from racing, I cant see tearing up slicks driving around town, then when I get back into it I'll have a set I can throw on between weekend racing. I'm not dedicated enough to have this kind of money tied up in a car I can only drive 1 or 2 days a week....and only at the track I really need a second toy to cut, gut and run!!!

Yeah, one of the hard things about ordering wheels is that there are a range of fitments that would work. So you are bound to get alot of different "answers." Whats best for you depends on what you want. If you just want something that will fit and give you the least chance of fitment issues then stay as close to stock as possible. So 4.5" BS on a 8" wheel sounds right. Other guys might want the wheels to be more flush with the fenders so they run different BS. For the whole tire issue, I say use one of those tire calculators (google it). They will compare two different sized tires and compare the overall dimensions for you.

I thought the factory rear 16x8 wheels had 5.5" backspacing once you factored in the offset? My 15x8 draglites with 5.5" backspacing fit perfectly in my opinion, they dont stick too far in and they dont stick too far out.

IHI by the way the tires are 275/60R15 which is 28" tall. I could definately fit in a 29" tire with no problems looking at my car on the ground i can fit my hand easily all around the tire. I think the 28" looks perfect though and helped raise my dual exhaust another inch off the ground too from the factory 26" tires so that was a plus. If you have any more questions feel free to PM me or post up and let me know.
