which is stronger 9 bolt or 10 bolt??
I have 2 rear ends right now and I am wondering which one to do the 3:73 gear swap with. I have a 3:27 9 bolt and a 3:23 10 bolt, both are posi. would either one have a sig advantage over the other with the same gear ratio???

The 3:73 swap would be easier in the 10 bolt as parts are easier to come by. But depending on brakes 9 bolt beats 10 bolt in parts you have now.

10 bolt with a girdle, good gears, setup right and you should be good. A few of us run 12s/11s on 10 bolts.

A 9-bolt is defiantly stronger then a 10-bolt in stock form. But like anesthes said, if you build up a 10-bolt with aftermarket axels, gears, carrier, girdle, solid crush sleeve then it will be the same strength or stronger then a 9-bolt.
I guess 9 bolts are stronger, but when you do blow them up like I did, it is nearly impossible to get parts. Like it was said before, a 10 bolt can be made to be as strong, with a huge aftermarket selection. Which you don't have with the 9bolt. So, if I had to pick. Stock for stock, drive on the 9 bolt. Then put the gears in the 10 bolt and beef it up. When you are done swap them out and sell the 9 bolt.
