98 Spindles on a third gen

I have found a braking system for use on my 84Z. It requires me to replace the OEM spindles with 98Z Spindles...well I'm thinking not a big problem yet. Then I'm thinking to go with 2" drop spindles and OEM springs as this would give a better ride than lowering springs (now have 1 1/2" drop springs). Problem now! cannot find any drop spindles for 98Z's...does any one know where to find drop spindles for a 98Z? Or it’s back to the drawing board and use modified 3rd gen. drop spindles for an upgraded front brake system?

98 spindles will not work on a 82-92 front end. The 98 spindles use upper & lower ball joints; the 82-92 uses a lower only, and a strut. Completely different. So the 98 Z28 take-out stuff on eBay right now will not work; at least, the spindles won't.

98 Spindles on a 3rd. Gen

Well that solves that problem. I found a braking system, and was instructed to use 98Z spindles to make it fit my 84Z from the company...They stated that it would fit by using 98Z spindles on my 84Z, but obviously I was misinformed as to the possibility of it working. So it’s back to dropped modified spindles for my 84Z, to up-grade the front brakes system. Thanks for the warning, Ed.

Just because you can't use the spindles doesn't mean you can't use the brakes. If big brakes are what you want, look into the LS1, C4, or C5 brake upgrades and also the upgrades that vendors like Spohn offer.

I run the 12" 1LEs and 13" C4 HDs on my cars and both are great setups.

84Z Brake Up-grades

I have been considering (and saving for) the Spohn System, and modifying the front spindles for it to fit. So far their system fits with all I want to do...By cutting and re-drilling dropped 84Z spindles the Spohn front system will work. Their better, bigger brakes in front, and a decent ride after lowering is what I’m looking for. Thanks for all of the info., Ed.
