Always just ran my futura street tires it doesn't really matter what you put on the back cause its gonna suck anyway so i never saw the point to winter only tires. Just my Opinion

blizzak ws50 or michelin alpine snows, I've driven through several winters with the ws50's and they are an excellent snow tire. I wouldn't reccomend all seasons for any RWD vehicle in a heavy snow area. I would still be driving my fbody in the winter if it wasn't so low now and with my C5 front brakes, the 15" "winter wheels" wont fit anymore. Not to mention what the salt does to speed up rust, yet another reason to pick up a beater for winter use.
Studs are illegal in most states, though most cops wont know this and the studs are usually pretty hard to notice on a truck, let alone an fbody where the wheel wells cover most of the tire anyway... A good snow tire won't need studs. Stay away from the cheaper Mud/snow type tires that look like they belong on demolition derby cars. The ws50 or arctic alpine will out brake, corner, and accelerate just about everything on the ice/snow covered roads (including 4wd trucks). With ws50's I was actually passing lines of cars going 35mph on extremely icy roads at 55mph, the tires made all the difference. I can only imagine how much fun an awd car would be with a set of michelin alpine snows.. hmm
