Alighnment Suggestions
I plan to install my drop springs tonight, 1.75 drop. Then get an alighnment next week after they settle in. I'm trying to decide what specs to have it set to. After searching I found Global West recommends..
Caster Camber Toe Total
(deg) (deg) (in)
L R L R
Street +4 +4.5 -.5 -.5 3/32
Hard St +5 +5.5 -1 -1 3/32
Road race+6 +6 -1.75 -1.75 Short Course
1/8 out
Long Course
1/16 in
It is a daily driver, but we have lots of curves around here, and I take them hard. Plan on starting back to SoloII next spring also.
Im thinking -1(or hair more) on the camber, 3/32 on toe. But not sure what for Caster? I'm a light v6, but with alot of drop. I know what caster is, but dont know how it plays in the cars handling.

I had -1.5 before and now -1 as a result my mistake.
I'm thinking of going back to -1.5 which was noticably better.
For S2 you might want a bit of toe out. Right now I have 0 toe for road courses.

Well, they sent me v8 springs as I guessed they would. So thats going to take a while, but I am still looking for answers.
George, so -1.5 was prefect, and -1 is not enough? Are you wearing edges, or not gripping right?
What about caster?
3/32 toe out, or 2/16 toe out? Isnt that alot?

Mosport is as extreme example but before that I did 3-4 lap days at other tracks and some S2 events all at -1.5 and the outer edge wear was not significant.
If you are going to use your car for S2 events then it's likely that the inner edge wear from running high negative camber on a daily driver will more or less cancel out against the wear that the outer edges get in competition events. That's been my experience anyway so I don't worry about it. In fact it's really the outer edges on my tyres that are wearing the most lately.
However, I didn't notice that your car was a V6 so the balance will be different than mine.
There's a guy on here (vsixtoy I think or agood2.8) who runs a V6 and knows a lot. Search to see if he's posted anything for alignment on V6 cars.
For an agressive street setup though I'd think -1 would be about right and just keep an eye on the inner edges - if they start wearing too much swap them over.

Wow. I had Les Schwab just do stock specs and I've been getting serious outter tire wear. What should I set it up next time I get tires? It's lowered with sportlines.
