What size of sway bar?

Hi All,
I am process of upgrading the suspension on my 82 Bird. The only things left to do are;
1 Replace rear lower control arms
2. Install a rear sway bar.

For the 1982 TA, what size sway bars were installed( front and rear) ?

Thanks
Merry Christmas!

It would depend on the suspension package the car came with.

Largest front is 36mm, largest rear is 24mm.

You also have 34 and 32 front.

Rear, I belive 21,22,23

I find that 32/21 works well with a Prokit on my car and for my driving style. The stiffer your springs are the less bar you'll
need.

32/21 is what came with my 83TA which had the WS6 option

On a full weight street car, just go with the largest matched set bars you can find. Regardless of spring rates, the car is heavy with roll weight when it is not stripped down to race weight. Anything above 3000lbs is going to benefit from a 36(hollow steel)/24 factory combo or might I suggest the stiffer Spohn 34mm (solid chromemoly))/25mm combo if you don't have SFC's and the 34/22 (or otherwise known as a 7/8") rear bar for a V8 car with SFC's.

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for the answers,

FYI,
My 82 Firebird has:
Sphon SFC, Adjustable Panhard bar
BMR STB,
TDS wonder bar,
Eback Pro springs,
and new rear shocks,
The front susupension is all new, due to the accident in 2002.
The car came with Front Sway Bar, but I dont know the size. I can measure it, but haven't taken the time.

The 82 Firebird coupe came with the LG4 and auto trans.
The car is not raced, drag etc, it is just use for pleasure now.

I am looking to keep the front sway bar and add the rear.

Thanks for you help

Happy New Year.

Hi All,
Thanks for your help.

I had the Spohn LCAs installed a week ago. Wow what a diferance Spohn LCAs. The steering is a whole lot more responsive. I am getting real close on pulling the trigger for the sway bars upgrade. I am thinking of going with the following from TDS

part number price
34mm Hollow front 204270 65.00
23mm Rear Sway 201270 52.50
EndLink Mount brackets 207190 10.50
Rearswaybar Bushing Kit 202170 41.00
Greasable front Bushing kit 200170 41.00

I know that the ride will be frimer, but I lookiing to make this old Bird handle better then new. Please help me out here, what do you guys think? Please note, car is for pleasure use, but I will driving in the mountains a lot!

HI ALL,
FYI update,
I have measured and found out that I have the 28mm front sway bar on the car. So I will be replacing the front sway bar.

I have ordered the 34mm hollow front sway bar and 23mm rear sway bar from TDS. Should arrive tomarrow. I let you all know how it goes. I hope this set up will be good for the Eibach springs.
