18 X 10.5 in front.
18 X 10.5 in front.
Ran into a snag, I must choose between 18x10.5 z06 in front or 17 x 9.5.
I much rather have the same size wheel all around. (both width and height).
I know 275/40/17's fit in front with little trouble...
by that logic, would 275/35/18's fit an 18x10.5 in tire on the front of a GTA with eibachi lowering springs.
Thanks.

275/17's usually go on a 17x9 or 9.5inch rim, a 18x10.5 inch rim is actually closer to 11 inches wide and requires a 295/35 18. I believe that the 275 would be too narrow to cover the wheel.

wow man , thats very wide in the front even if you use a 275 tire, i dont know if ive seen that wide of a rim done to look right . I mean anything is possible but i think thats a little too big for the front.
If you do run the 10.5" wide in front, expect to have issues with rubbing. I would recommend pulling the inner fenderwell, and rolling the inside front fender lip. Might have to run a little more negative camber than normal. Andris Skulte would probably have more info on this, last I heard he was planning on 10.5" wide in the front.

To give you a rough idea - here is a pic I took of my 9.5"x17" w/275/40 after temporarily putting some spacers on for testfitting after installing C5 brakes. There is just over an inch of clearance between the tierod and the rim on the inside here, so that should be close to how far a 10.5" rim would stick out with minimal clearance to the tierods. You would gain a little bit with a "narrow" tire that doesn't bulge as much as mine.
Hope that helps

Well the goodyears i would put on it, according to tirerack, at 275/35/18 is just fine (they will go on upto an 11 inch rim according to the specs)
i dont mind "rubbing" the inner fenders a bit to make sure they dont rub. But i will not tollerate my 1000 dollar set of tires being shredded to peices every time i take a corner to hard. I just found a magazine article where they ran 275/40's 17 on all 4 corners (hot rod mag i think, but it doesnt matter). looks beefy. And they claimed to problems, but they did roll the lip just in case.....
i hate to have to use 17 in front and 18 out back.....maybe on a convertable but not on a hard top...
thanks for your replies (ps the pic is huge help, props)

There is a Blue IROC around on this board with 315's on all 4 corners. Not sure what mods were required I will try to find the pictures.
EDIT: N/M I found the car I thought had 315's up front it. It has 275's but has 315's in the rear

well as much as i would love 18 x 9.5 in front, its just not available from the place im getting it from. And the price in incredable. so i rather bang some sheet metal and have the ability to rotate all for tires, then pay considerably more, not do a 4 wheel rotaion and generally be not as satisfied.
does anyone know that it wont fit? if it fits without "too" much trouble (aka, nothing a torch and hammer, followed by a spray can, wont fix) then im game.
does anyone personally have 10.5 anything up front?

Karl Hunter stuffs 18x11's on all 4 corners. He told me, he had to do some slight modifications, and also run -2* of camber to get them to fit.

I don't think there are pics. Being the competive person he is, he is not quick to give out to much info.

Hey irocdan,
Could you do me the biggest favor and tell me your tire size. And if its not too much trouble, can you put one of your rear rims forward and tell me if it fights or not?
Thank you very much man, this would be hugely helpful.

ZR1 RIMS on Ebay?
Hey guy's
I need to know what it would take to mount a set of ZR1 rims on my 89 IROC...
I want to go with 275/40R17" at all four corners...
I need to know what I need for spacers???
I will probably be lowering the car in the future (1" drop) prokit?
Are there any rims that are just bolt on without the need for spacers
I am guessing the rims are 17x9.5 (ZR1"s)

If you have alot of HP going to the rear wheels, then i would vote against the spacers. My rim spec are 17x9.5 with 5.5 of back spacing - here I'm able to utlize the 275/40-17 tires from conti.
just my $0.02
just my $0.02
