Tire info Re:1988 Firebird GTA Trans Am
I have been told by numerous tire stores that my current tires P245/50R-16 are not rotatable.
Is this true?
And second can anyone tell me the original tire sizes that came with my ride. It has the original aluminum rims.
Thanks, Arne

the reason they are not rotatable is not the tire size, it is the fact that the front wheels are different than the rear wheels. They have different offsets. the only way to rotate is to break the tires down and move them from the front wheels to the rear and vice versa

Yep, and some tire places are A$$es when it comes down to that. Specially if they are directional tires. Like mine Kuhmo 711's.

i tried looking at them, and they all looked the same. i also had two that were dented, and a donor car 91 Formula 350 had two better ones so i used them
they looked the same, and when i had the tires off, i couldn't see any difference internally
does this only apply to the GTA rims?
i know one thing that will determine whether you can rotate or not is if you get a direction tread.
the BFG's we bought weren't directional, rather an all season
