GTA Wheel Questions

I'm Buying a set of GTA wheels. Those are 16"x8" right? Is there a difference between the front and rear?
What is the biggest tire I should run (front and rear) to help my traction? The car is driven hard on the street, and will see some autocross and road courses.
Currently, I'm running 225/60/15's on the rear, and 215/65/15's on the front. These are on 15x7 Chevy Rallyes.
*MODS* if I put this in the wrong place, feel free to move it, just tell me where it's been moved to. I looked through the topics, but couldn't find wheels and tires.
Thanks.

whoa

only 225's on the rear? I'd be trying to run at least a 255 on the rear meats for your car. Thats what I ran on my 2nd gen (shoulda gone bigger) and thats what my buddy runs on his 88 Iroc. Just cram the biggest tires you can in there as long as your gear ratio allows for it

You will find quite a few good tire compounds in 245/50/16 and that size is the stock size, which will also minimize/eliminate rubbing.

If you're autocrossing or road racing the car you're going to want to upgrade the front brakes as they're inadequate for either of those tasks, especially a road course.

Probably LS1 front brakes, since they're the biggest ones that will fit under GTA wheels.

I've had the same question!

I have a set on my 87 Trans Am I'm working on in my shop. They are the 245-50-16 all the way around. They look great. The rims can't be moved front to back. You'll see on the inside"back" of the rim they will say front, rear on them. I'm looking at going with a 255-45 on the rear & something a little smaller in front. The 245's rub the well in hard cornering. I will most likely go with a high performance tire, H or V rated at most for a comfortable ride.

Good Luck, Bill
