Clunk from steering column?
I am hearing a clunk noise from my steering if I turn the wheel back and forth parked..It sounds like its comming from the steering column, The front end parts are tight and when I grab the column (under hood) it has some play in it..It seems to be loose where, I think, the intermediate shaft goes into the column by the firewall..Is this common on these?? is this part hard to find and repair??
I just started getting the same problem with my car.
If you use the search feature here, type in "rag joint" and you should find all the information you need.
The part you're probably going to end up getting is Motormite (that's the maker of the HELP! brand) #31008. It's a special order part at AutoZone, for $36. There are also rivets on the original part you'll have to drill out.
