Uncompressed Spring Comparison

While rebuilding the suspension on my '89 IROC-Z and getting ready to redo the suspension on 2 other 3rd gen F-Bodies, I have access to a few different sets of drop springs. I have seen people ask for measurements of uncompressed springs, so I figgured I might as well snap some pics while I have em all in my hands. Like my other post, I will be doing the fronts first, then the rears next.

Here's the group picture, listed in order from left (lowest) to right (highest):

Ground Control Weight Jack @ full down w/ Eibach roadrace spring
Ground Control Weight Jack @ full up w/ Eibach roadrace spring
Eibach Sportline Spring
Eibach Pro-Kit Spring
Stock FE2 IROC-Z Spring @ 130K miles of wear

Now I will post pictures of each in the same order next to a measuring tape. Sorry if these are not exact down to the mm, I tried to do the best I could (1 man show here). It is fairly tricky to balance a spring, hold up the tape measure, angle it right, frame the picture, and hold it still while laying down LOL

For more info on the Weight Jacks, you can check out this Thread: Weight Jacks. Remember that these are uncompressed spring heights and its impossible to determine what their height would be while compressed, unless you compressed them and took pics. I dont have that kind of resources so its not gonna happen. Rears are coming up next (same set of 4 springs).

Here's the info on the rear springs. Here's the first pic, springs are sitting upside-down to make them stand still. From left to right: Weight Jack with 10" spring (150# linear SSS Spring), Eibach Sportlines, Eibach Pro-Kit, Stock FE2:

And now here's the measurements, Custom SSS Spring next to the Eibach Sportline:

And Eibach Pro-Kit next to stock FE2:

Gonna try to finish up this post with pics of 4 different Camaro's all with one of these sets of springs installed, and then measure the frame to show actual drops. Gonna be a while though ...

Here's the front coils I run on my V6. They are 12" free length with 4 3/4 "free coils". The eibachs are softer rates with slightly thinnier wire and 5 1/2 free coils-
I am giving away top secret info here.

Wow great info here. This should help clear up some spring confusion that people seem to have.
