Re: high speed vibration on '88 TA
$170? Are you frikin kinding me.
A tail shaft bushing and seal + install of them into the tailshaft is flipping someone $20 max at a tranny shop.
I am hoping this was a misprint and you bought the bushing for $1.70.
Anyways, you need to go to my next step and check the virbration at rpm speeds regardless of gear. If rpm related, then its very wellyou dampner. If not then its a pinion bearing or a wheel bearing on the rear axle.

Anyway, this vibration is completely independent of engine RPM. I've tried going down the freeway, shifting the car into neutral, and turning the engine off. The vibration remains as long as the car is going between 70-80mph or so -- even when the engine is off. What dampner are u talking about? I've already replaced the entire rear axle assembly and it didn't change the vibration at all, so it's not a pinion or wheel bearing.
What I'd really like to try is to take the driveshaft out of the car and have some1 tow me at 70-80mph and see if the vibe is there or not. That would really help me narrow down where it's coming from. But I haven't figured out any safe way to do it.
