Strut Tower Brace for Carbureted/AC
Hey guys,
I have a 1984 z28 with the quadrajet and A/C. All the strut tower braces i have tried will not clear the A/C on the passenger side. All of the aftermarket products are made for the TPI models and as far as i can tell, none work with the Carb/AC combo. Does anyone know of any STB that works with my setup? I'm willing to do a little cutting/welding, just about anything short of fabricating my own.

Edelbrock makes an STB for the TBI cars that will work on the carbed cars. Although, it doesn't fit cars with the AC compressor on the driver's side. People have modified it to work, and from what I understand it's not hard, but I couldn't tell what they did. A quick search should yield the answer.

The best way, in my opinion, to make a strut tower bar is to DIY.
Find a circle track shop either locally or online and buy a couple shock mounts, a pair of rod ends, and some threaded tubing.
You will then have to bolt or weld the shock mounts to the strut towers, but it's not that hard if you take your time and check your measurements.
You can easily DIY for less them $50.
