axel spline

i have a 95 disc rear that i'd like to take guts out of less axels and put into my 85 housing. Problem is dont know if axels have same spline count. Dont want the wider rear anymore. Or anybody wanna trade a 91-92 3.42 posi disc rear for my 95?

The carrier in the 95 will be for 28 spline axles. Your 85 housing was originally a 26 spline carrier and axles. You'll need 90-92 third gen or third gen aftermarket 28 spline axles to use the 28 spline carrier in the earlier diff.

If you don't want the wider rear I would do what Stephen suggested and find an 90+ 3rd gen rear housing. You should be able to get a V6 rear end from a yard for next to nothing.
