36mm urathane bushings part #?

Hey there. So I took a caliper and measured both my IROCs sway bars.. they are the same. Looks like 30mm front and 19.5 rear. Little bit of flaking paint and surface rust may have boosted those numbers a bit, but thats pretty acurate.

So I decided to invest in a set of 36/24mm bars. I went out to the local auto supply store (Lordco) and ordered up some poly urathane bushings and endlinks. They deal with Energy Suspension.

They do not list 36mm bushings for Chevy or Pontiac.. only upto 34mm? Also they list the 34mm w and w/o thrust washers. I have both sets sitting in front of me now. Will these work for the 36mm bars? Also do I need the thrust washers, or not?

No problem getting the front end links. No problem getting the 24mm rear bushings.

Anything else I should replace while I'm there?

Thanks.

Board sponsors, Spohn and TDS, both carry greaseable 36mm bushings. TDS also provides 1LE endlinks, which are quite nice and highly recommended.

I can't say positively, of course, but I sincerely doubt it.

That said, I can dig up the GM 1LE part number if you'd like--this bushing is a higher durometer rubber.

Ok so I got ahold of a 'good' caliper.. I was using a junky dollar store one.

I measured both cars, both are the same.

Fronts are 34mm

Rears are showing like 22.5 mm.. so I'm assuming 22.

Fronts are hollow. One car has the 'hollow holes' facing down to the ground, one car has the holes facing up towards the engine.

Which way is proper?? I know one car was in an accident years ago.. and that one has the holes up.. I'm assuming that is the one that is incorrect?

Also.. now that I know I have 34/22mm, is it really worth upgrading to 36/24??

Advice needed, thanks!

The 1LE's are poly too. I prefer them because their curved head seems to fit the sway bar hole better, but the ES stuff is fine--I'm running their motor mounts, tranny, torque arm mount, secordardy cross-member mounts, bump stops, and rear sway bar bushings.

FYI, those white "1LE" sway bar bushings pictured can be had on almost any rear ( and possibly front) 4th gen swaybar. I got 2 4th gen rears a whle back and both of them had the "1LE" sway bar end link bushings.

Aren't they actually hard nylon?

Humm, well, I guess I couldn't really say. At any rate, they seem effective.

TDS at the top of the page sells them and their description said Nylon. I was about to buy them if they are hard nylon. Does anybody know for sure?

Re: 36mm urathane bushings part #?

Sorry to bring back an old thread. I am considering upgrading to a 1LE swaybar on my GN, and was wondering if I had to use the F-Body bushings and endlinks. So I guess all the 34mm and 36mm are "1LE"s????

Any got a Energy Suspension part number handy for the bushings and links?

I dont have the number handy, but I did a little research and found that a 2001 Silverado 2wd uses 36mm front sway bar bushings that will work with our cars. I bought them from summit (they had to order them directly from energy suspension) and installed them, and they fit perfectly.

IIRC, both Spohn and TDS, both board sponsors, carry the 36 mm bushings. TDS carries the 1LE end links. I prefer the ES links as they seem to fit better.

Thanks guys. Im just trying to improve the handling of my GN. The 16x8 GTAs helped, but Im gonna redo the whole front suspension. I found a 36mm bar for sale on this board, hopefully I can snag it up...

Im thinking BMR control arms, LS-1 car brakes, and a maybe IROC springs; depending on thier rate. Also a SC&C frame brace and a new steering box. Already have KYB shocks for the front. Also gonna do the steering as well.

Any tips appreciated.
