seems like when im driving i want to sway from side to side .,lik,. if i correct the stearing the it like i over corrected a lil to much.,it just kinda sways side to side like weight is shifting side to side.,should i just start with a front end kit then do alighenment? or perhaps some one here has had very similer probs and can tell me what needs to be done?!
dont wanna be getting pulled over c use it looks like im some kinda drunk driver.,.,
my 88 camaro had tight stearing im not sure if its in the stearing or the bushings in the front.,.,.,the only one that looks like it need a new bushing is what connects the pitman arm COULD THIS BE MY PROBLEM?
i checked the rear hard pan bard it is secure the rear seems fine....

Too many beers?
Seriously though if it's that bad I wouldn't even drive it. It could be one of several you mentioned. Sounds like a problem with the steering itself. Check there first.

Your first and best method of diagnosis of the problem is this. Jack the front of the car up, put it on jackstands if possible. Take each wheel and test its movement. Grab the front and back sides and try and turn the wheel either way. It really should not move ceot maybe a tiny bit. Grab the top and bottom, same procedure, same results. Next check all the steering linkage. All 4 tire rods and the adjuster sleeves. The rods should NOT be loose where they conenct. Check the idler arm and the centerlink. Same deal, should not be loose. If any or most of those parts are bad, in all truthfulness, it may be in your best interest to replace all the mentioned parts. They are not expensive and a good bit cheaper if you do them yourself(taking it to get an alignment IMMEDIATELY after repairs) You also may want to replace the control arm ball joints as if the above parts are bad, the balljoints are likely to be shot or going as well.
Now, if everything up above checks out, you could have other issues. Check the front and rear sway bars and make sure the mounting brackets and endlinks are in good shape and not loose or missing. Your steering wheel should not have any real play either. If you have to turn it 1/2 a turn before the car starts actually turning, you've got problems. Possibly the above mentioned issues or in less common cases, the steering box or column itself. I have no experience with diagnosing those parts.
That's all I can think of from personal experience on my own car. There may be other problems I just haven't dealt with. Hopefully one of these will be the cause and easily fixable.
One last item. Make sure NONE of them are bent. Forgot to mention that, although a bent item should be easily noticeable, just wanted to add that.
