rain and steering boxes

in my parts car iroc its got the quick ratio steering box wheras my sport coupe has the standard one, however my parts car has no engine or hood and has been left to sit out in the rain therefore the box has gotten water in it from the rain, could this have damaged the internals of the steering box at all?

if i decide to use it, what should i do to be sure that the water is out of it, and prep it for use again?

might hurt it I guess if things are left but think of this also. when your driving down the road in the rain with your hood on how much water will your front tires kick up into that engine bay? I'm sure that thing will get soaked alone that way
but I would also think the stearing box should be sealed off

see the problem is the engine is long gone, as are the power steering lines that connect to the steering box, so water has gotten inside the box.
