Sway Bars, Springs Match-up.

Hey guys, i need a quick opinion on this. I'm currently upgrading my suspension and braking for some good Auto-X and Road Race use, and i am trying to figure a nice spring/shock sway bar combanation, heres what i have planned out so far.

Spohn Adj. Torque Arm
WS6 36mm/24mm sway bars
GW S-10/S-39 Springs
Tokico Illumina Shocks/Struts
Spohn Tubular A Arms (with delrin bushings)
Moog front end rebuild kit
Flaming River 12:1 Steering box
Flaming River PS Pump
J&M Caster Camber Plates
Bear Trackers
Hydroboost Upgrade
PS Fluid Cooler (Earl's Oil Cooler)
Poly EVERYTHING! (besides things that bind)

any opinions on how that will do? i'll be running on the stock 245/50/ZR16 size rubber. any constructive critisism on how i can make this better is appreciated!

Sounds like a good setup to me. I would also add a wonder bar and subframe conncetors if you don't already have them.

sounds good to me, get the suspension all upgraded and riding on rails, then go for the horsepower. I went the other way around, and sometimes want out of my camaro after an hour because the suspension needs some serious love...

What are GW S-10/S-39 springs? Do you know what specs they are. I've got the eibach pro-kit and I've been told by a couple people that they are too soft and that a higher spring rate would help me.

I would rethink your approch, or spend more money.

Unless you need a new power steering pump, and rack. Don't bother with those. Take that money, and get Koni shocks/struts, and something better than off the shelf springs. Something like the ground-control kit in front, and all-star kit in the back, would be good.

Also, depending on the exact nature of where you want this car to peform, I would talk to a company that specialises in those type of applications, and get spring rate suggestions, and maybe even shock/strut valving suggestions. You can make a very competitive car without buying all the fancy do-dads. Spend your money where it counts, shocks/struts, and then make sure everything else is in good working order. If you REALLY want to be competative, something like a pair of custom valved bilsteins, or revalved Koni's, would fit the bill very well. But you will pay for that. Sam Strano would would be a good person to talk to about valving options (stranoparts.com).

As for brakes, again, don't bother with baer, for the price they charge, you can get some serious brakes. Look in the brake forums, something along the lines of the Wilwood upgrades would be ideal for RR/ORR even in auto-x, the response of the fixed caliper vs floating calipers would be nice.

I guess the key peice of information here, is don't get EVERYTHING, get the key peices, and get the best you can in those peices. It will perform much better than a car that has EVERY peice, but only has middle of the ground parts.

I take it that's the front kit your talking about? I couldn't find the all-star kit anywhere. Got a link?
I bought a kit like the GC one for my honda one time, it sucked! I don't know what the spring rate was on em but it was way to low, seemed more sloppy than the stock suspension. Do you own this kit, what spring rate did you go with and how did you like it?

Lots of the Auto-x, road-race, and HPDE guys on this board run them. The reason I suggest the all star rear kits, is that I think it is better then G-C's rear setup. The allstar converts the rear to standard 5" race spring, instead of using the pigtail style like G-C.

Here is a link to one site that has them.

http://www.pitstopusa.com/detail.aspx?ID=23985

The part number is ALL56119, you could probably look around and find a better deal. You will likely want a 10" spring for the rears.

As for spring rates, I would talk with them, or maybe even somone like Sam Strano (he is a ground-control distributer, you could also buy your kit thru him, and he will help you pick spring rates for your car and the use of your car).

the only baer items i am getting are bump-steer correctors. My PS pump is not long for the world and my gear is about to take a dump, so i figured, these are a priority. my car only has 70,000 miles, but it wasn't driven for a few years so many things are just worn from age. What springs would you suggest?
