what is the difference between the Essenza EVO-Z and the Eagle F1GS-D3...I was trying to compare the two types and they look very similar...is there any clear differences between the two that can help me reduce the number of possibilities?

You can't base your decisions on looks alone. You need to base it on the specs of the tire. Tread pattern seems to be a selling point for tires, I think you should look more into the compounds and sidewall construction. The manufacture website should have info on how the tires are built and what the specs are, I would start my search there. To give my quick and dirty opinion I would say definately the F1GS out of the two choices. I've never even heard of the other brand and a google search turned up a furniture company. Beware.
