Replacement Steering Box

Any one ever replaced their box with a Detroit Speed or the new Flaming River piece? I have about 175000 on the IROC & want to replace the box. I have tried to tighten the allen nut but that did not do enough for me. I also have a leak at the end of the housing. Its all ready a quick ratio box but was wanting a little more information before spending $500 for a new box. I can get my OEM one rebuilt for $100 locally so I am not interested in paying $200 for a reman one from a parts store. I have checked all my front end components and they are OK.

Thanks
Chris

Are you talking about the new Flaming River box with the rack and pinion valve spool? I'm also interested in reading peoples experiences with that steering box. I'm considering it for my track car. I'm wondering if its worth it versus the cost of a local rebuild (I guess we're both in the same boat).

CrazyHawaiian,

Man I love your cars!! Yeah thats what I am looking for is other peoples experience with them. I remember reading an article in GM High Tech about the Detroit Speed one but not very informative.

I'm also in the same boat. I have about two and a half inches of play in the wheel and it's a major pita, especially when the tires start to bite on uneven pavement and start to pull the car around without moving the wheel.
