Power Steering Pump Just Went

Sorry guys, I'm a beginner when it comes to anything steering related. My power steering pump just went out and I'm getting ready to change it out. I just had a couple questions about the installation procedure.
1. The instructions the pump came with say the lines must be replaced too. My lines aren't cracked or brittle- do I really need to replace them?
2. I got a puller to take off the power steering pulley, but how do I put it on the new pump?

If someone could give me some tips on how to make the installation easier I would appreciate it- the Haynes manual didn't really help that much.

Thanks
