Changing struts Need to Know
Hey changing my Struts, for new ones. Anything I need to know before I do this??? And is a bouncing front, ( as in front end comes up alot when I launch) caused by old struts, Springs or a combination of both???
Excessive suspension travel causing the car to bottom out is an indication of a problem. In my experiences this problem is caused by worn struts/shocks more often than anything else. I'm not gonna say its always like that for everyone, but majority of the time its been like that for me. I've also learned in my experiences that you might as well do everything at once instead of doing it part by part. Otherwise you'll end up spend alot of your time (or alot of your money) to get the labor done. So if you need to blow the front suspension apart to do the front struts, might as well consider doing the front springs and bushings as well. This would not apply if you know for sure the conditions of the parts in there and they meet with your approval. If you doubt or question it, I would say replace it now before it fails down the road. As for what you need to know, I would say make sure you got the proper tools, space and time to do the job (could be more than a day depending on how fast you work), and I would also say its a really good idea to have a torque wrench so you can properly torque the parts on the re-install.
