yet another spacer question

I have a pair of 4th gen salad shooters that i would like to put on my z28. I have searched about it and all i found were answers about different wheels, which i am not sure if that matters or not. Would i be ok to use a 2 inch spacer front and rear? I would like it so that the wheels are right up to the fender lip, i dont like the "tucking " look so much.

Which also brings me to another question, I autocross and drag race this car in the summer months, so would adapters be a better setup than spacers? i have read good and bad about the spacers.

i just dont want to be doin one of these and have the wheels fall off.

2 inchers would be fine. Ive actually seen a VW with spacers (so they could run a chevy pattern wheel) hit a curb, snap the axle, bend the rim almost in a U shape, but the spacer was unharmed...
