85-87 Iroc wheel questions

Why were the offsets different so that the front and back could not be interchanged? what purpose does this serve?...Do the tires just get rotated from side to side instead of front to back or crossing them?

Your only option, I guess, is side to side, unless you wish to remove the tires from the wheels and have them remounted.

if you rotate them side to side without having them remounted, make sure you don't have a directional tire..

This is one type of tire i was considering if i get those wheels...

thats interesting that you said that, because I was thinking about eventually getting those Iroc wheels with the Goodyear Eagle tires which do have a directional to them....how would that effect rotating them?....what would happen in one tread on one wheel faces the opposite direction than another?

not real sure what would happen, but i'd assume that they wouldn't work nearly as well..

and pretty much to rotate those you would have to have the dismounted and mounted on the other wheel.

unless you just don't rotate them.. i doubt i'll be rotating my tires as i have 16" irocs and i'm running 245's in front and 255's in back and i don't really see the point in just moving one tire to the other side if its stayin on the same end of the vehicle...

I have owned my trans am for 16 years and have never rotated the tires. Its a pita, the tires do have to come off. I'm sure that i didn't get that good of tire life all these years. I'm on my fifth set and have 165,000 miles on the car.
